  Getting to and from the stadium

 

 

Access to the Japan National Stadium

 

  • For access to the Japan National Stadium, including an accessible access map, please refer to the following website: Access | Japan National Stadium Official Website.
  • Please note that there are no spectator parking facilities in or around the stadium so we kindly ask that spectators arrive via public transport or by other means.

Opening Hours

 

  • The Japan National Stadium will open to spectators at least an hour ahead of each session, with evening sessions generally allowing earlier entry than morning sessions.
  • Once the gates open, you’re welcome to enter anytime until the competition ends.
  • Please refer to the timetable below for further details on opening times.

Entry

 

  • Entry gates are designated by seating type and each ticket will show the gate closest to your seat.

 

 

Baggage inspection and items to bring

 

  • Spectators are subject to bag inspections, beverage inspections, and metal detector screening. To ensure smooth and timely passage, please arrive to the stadium with sufficient time.
  • Before queuing, please take out any bottled beverages or thermoses.
  • Please empty your pockets by placing mobile phones, accessories, and other metallic items in a tray or your bag for inspection.
  • Bags should be no larger than 40cm × 40cm × 60cm.
  • Certain items are prohibited from being brought into the stadium so please check the prohibited items list below in advance.

 

 

Bringing beverages

 

  • Glass bottles, cans, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be brought into the stadium.
  • Paper cups for transferring drinks will not be provided. Glass bottles and cans must be discarded during inspection.
  • You may bring beverages in plastic bottles or thermoses, only after conducting a taste test during baggage inspection.

 

 

Pets and animals

 

  • Spectators are not permitted to bring pets or animals into the stadium, with the exception of certified assistance dogs.

 

 

Re-entering the stadium

 

  • Please be advised that re-entry into the stadium is only permitted for the following sessions when the road events are taking place:
        - DAY 1: Saturday, 13 September – morning session
        - DAY 2: Sunday, 14 September – morning session
        - DAY 3: Monday, 15 September– morning session
        - DAY 8: Saturday, 20 September – morning session
  • Spectators are required to present their tickets when both exiting and re-entering the stadium, and any bags or belongings will be subject to further inspection.
  • Please note that temporary exits are permitted only after the start of each event.

 

 

Wheelchair seating

 

  • A limited number of designated parking spaces (paid, lottery-based) are available near the stadium exclusively for wheelchair ticket holders. Full details can be found on the Car Park for Wheelchair Ticket Holders page. Please apply if you are interested.

  Stadium facilities

 

 

Shops

 

  • Food and beverage stands, as well as official merchandise stores, are available throughout the stadium for your convenience.
  • Details about events and activities around the stadium will be posted on the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 Event Information page as they become available. Please check the page regularly for updates.

 

 

Universal and accessible facilities

 

  • Spacious, wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available on the concourse, with some equipped with ostomate-friendly facilities and multi-purpose care seats.
  • Single-occupancy, all-gender restrooms are also available for use by anyone, regardless of gender identity.
  • Baby care rooms are located on the concourse and include private nursing spaces, a dedicated hot water dispenser for preparing baby formula, diaper changing tables, and bins for disposing of used diapers.
  • Strollers are not permitted inside the spectator stands. After entering through the gates, please use the designated stroller parking areas provided nearby. Kindly note that these areas are unattended and are not monitored by staff.
  • Multilingual audio information is available via display screens installed at information desks and other key locations throughout the stadium.

 

 

Kids rooms and nurseries

 

  • There are no creche or nursery facilities provided at the stadium.

 

 

AEDs and medical rooms

 

  • Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and medical rooms are available on each floor.

 

 

Smoking areas

 

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the stadium.

 

 

Lost and found

 

  • For lost or found items, please notify a nearby staff member or visit the information desk inside the stadium.

 

 

Wi-Fi

 

  • Free Wi-Fi is available inside the stadium from the below SSID:

  • Please note that the use of mobile phone hotspot functions is not permitted.

 

 

Heat countermeasures

 

  • To help prevent heatstroke, please stay well hydrated, replace lost salt with specialised drinks or salt-replenishing sweets, wear light, breathable clothing, and use cooling items such as cooling sheets or portable fans as needed.
  • Please check the weather forecast the day before your ticketed event and plan your attire and personal items accordingly.
  • Water stations are available throughout the stadium and at rest areas along the marathon course, where spectators can rehydrate and refill their water bottles.
  • If you feel unwell, please notify the medical room or a staff member immediately.

Waste separation and recycling

 

  • Please separate your waste and recyclables according to the categories indicated on the collection bins. Do not throw your waste away in anywhere other than designated areas. 
  • To help reduce waste, spectators are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles.

  Prohibited behaviour

 

The following behaviours are strictly prohibited. If any violation is suspected, entry into the stadium may be refused or spectators may be asked to leave.

 

  • Engaging in acts that violate laws or public order and decency.
  • Driving or parking vehicles or bicycles in unauthorised areas.
  • Entering the stadium without a valid ticket, accreditation card, or other authorised pass.
  • Refusing to cooperate with security screening, such as bag checks or body searches, conducted for safety reasons.
  • Bringing in or using prohibited items.
  • Entering restricted or off-limits areas without permission.
  • Disregarding instructions, guidance, or directions from security personnel, staff, volunteers, or event officials.
  • Engaging in threatening, intimidating, insulting, or provocative behaviour towards spectators, officials, athletes, or other event participants.
  • Forcing meetings with event personnel or remaining in their presence against their will.
  • WCH Tokyo 25 is for everyone. Entering or remaining on the premises while intoxicated or becoming intoxicated in the stadium will not be tolerated.
  • Damaging, defacing, or improperly handling facilities, equipment, or devices.
  • Tampering with safety devices such as locks, seals, or tape installed for security purposes.
  • Taking, transmitting, or producing photographs or videos that could be suspected of sexual harassment towards athletes or others.
  • Conducting protests, demonstrations, assemblies, solicitations, speeches, or discriminatory acts that disrupt the smooth running of the event.
  • Engaging in commercial activities, soliciting donations, displaying advertisements, distributing flyers or samples without permission.
  • Displaying or expressing political, ideological, religious, or discriminatory messages, or anything contrary to public order and decency, including on signs, banners, placards, clothing, helmets, documents, printed materials, trademarks, or other items.
  • Wearing, displaying, or distributing items featuring company names, product names, or other content intended for ambush marketing.
  • Using open flames or fire in or around the stadium.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, in or around the stadium.
  • Throwing or launching objects into competition areas or engaging in any act that may interfere with event operations.
  • Operating or using drones in or around the stadium.
  • Using unauthorised devices (excluding mobile phones or tablets) inside or around the stadium without permission.
  • Using hotspot functions on mobile phones.
  • Recording, transmitting, or creating photographs or videos for commercial purposes.
  • Using umbrellas or selfie sticks inside the stadium.
  • Placing luggage or standing in aisles, causing obstruction or hindering the flow of pedestrian traffic.
  • Using musical instruments (such as drums or trumpets) in ways that interfere with the progress of the competition.
  • Camping or engaging in behaviour near the stadium that causes nuisance to local residents or nearby facilities.
  • Using tape, sheets, or similar items to reserve places in entry queues.
  • Engaging in any acts that interfere with event operations or progress, cause inconvenience or danger to others, or are deemed inappropriate by the organising foundation.

  Spectator etiquette

 

Track and field events

 

  • Please remain quiet at the start of track races.
  • Officials who judge the competition may be seated in the spectator area. Please do not pass in front of them or try to talk to them during the event.

 

 

Road events: Marathon and Race Walk events

 

  • Only runners and authorised personnel are allowed on the course. However, sidewalks along the course are generally open to pedestrians, except for some restricted areas.
  • Attaching banners, flags, or signs to guardrails, pedestrian bridges, or other public structures along the course is not allowed.
  • For safety reasons, please do not climb over, lean on, hang from, or sit on fences or guardrails, or lean out from the sidewalks to cheer. Using stools or ladders for cheering or photography is also prohibited.
  • When cheering, please be mindful not to disturb nearby shops, businesses or other visitors.
  • Please do not step into flower beds or planted areas on the sidewalks.
  • Restrooms inside train stations along the event course are for passengers only. Please refrain from using them if you are not using the station.
  • Please take your trash home with you and do not leave it lying around. 

 

 

Photography, filming & social media

 

  • Spectators are allowed to photograph and record video of events strictly for personal, non-commercial use. Sharing this content on social media is permitted, provided it remains non-commercial and respects these guidelines.
  • Please note that any photography or filming considered to constitute sexual harassment or to infringe upon the dignity of athletes may be subject to review. In such cases, organisers reserve the right to request deletion of the content.
  • Please note that restrictions may apply during certain events held near the 100m start line area (specifically Blocks 145 and 146 on the first tier). We kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines as instructed by event staff.

 

 

Image rights

 

  • Please be advised that images or footage of spectators may be captured during the event and used for the purposes of broadcast, live streaming, news reporting, social media, promotional content, and other materials related to WCH Tokyo 25 and future championships. By entering the stadium, you consent to such use.

 

 

Intellectual property & rights protection

 

  • The name, logo, mascot, and all associated branding of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 are protected under Japanese trademark, copyright, and unfair competition laws. Use of these materials is restricted to official partners and authorised organisations only.

 

 

Prevention of ambush marketing

 

  • Ambush marketing refers to activities that create an unauthorised association with the championships for commercial or promotional purposes.
  • We kindly ask all spectators to understand and support efforts to prevent ambush marketing.
  • To ensure the safe operation of road events (marathon and race walk) and to protect sponsor rights, please refrain from displaying flags or banners over sponsor boards.

  Entry refusal & removal from the stadium

 

Admission to the stadium may be denied or individuals may be asked to leave under the following circumstances. In such cases, ticket fees will not be refunded:

 

  • Affiliation with organised crime groups or antisocial organisations
  • Possession of prohibited items合
  • Engagement in prohibited conduct
  • Failure to present a valid ticket
  • Refusal to undergo baggage inspection or metal detection screening
  • Intoxication or disorderly behaviour
  • Identification as a restricted individual under the official ticket terms and conditions
  • Any other conduct deemed inappropriate by the organisers

  • Please be aware that the competition schedule may change without prior notice due to inclement weather, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances. Changes may include earlier start times, delays, suspensions, postponements, or cancellations.

  Ticket refunds

 

  • Please note that tickets are non-refundable for personal reasons.
  • In the event that a ticketed session is canceled for reasons outlined in the ticket terms and conditions, refunds—up to the face value of the ticket—will be issued to the original purchaser. However, service fees (including those specified in Article 10 of the ticket terms) are non-refundable.
  • Refunds are only available for tickets purchased through the official ticketing website or the official resale platform. Tickets bought from unofficial sources or refund requests made by someone other than the original purchaser will not be accepted.
  • Should refunds become applicable, detailed instructions will be sent directly to eligible purchasers.
  • Please be aware that under no circumstances will travel, accommodation, or other incidental expenses be reimbursed.
