Day3 ( 2011.7.9 )

Women 5000m T.D. Chalchissa2011.07.09 22:00
I was expecting to win. I ran for myself, and I am very happy (to win the championship).

Women 400mH Final 1st Satomi Kubokura2011.07.09 21:55
Today I was going to run hard from the early part, and I did. But I couldn't finish well at all, while strong wind was another reason for that. It went well until the 9th hurdle, but at the 10th, I couldn't keep going at all. I was concerned about the first half too much. I would like to be careful about that next time.

Men Hammer Throw 1st Ali Zenkawi2011.07.09 21:25
I am very happy (to be the Asian champion). My father (Mohammed Zenkawi) became the Asian champion three times in the shot put, and this is my fourth Asian titles for me. I am happy to be able to surpass my father. The condition was good today, but couldn't break my season best record of 76m10 (his personal best is 79.74m from 2009). I should be able to improve my record even further. I hurt my back last year, so my condition may not be at best yet. My goal from now is to throw over 80m. And I would like to win the gold medal in the Olympic Games.

Women 200m Round1 Heat3 1st Chisato Fukushima2011.07.09 21:05
Now that I finally ran in this competition, I feel good and relieved. I had such a long interval from leaving Hokkaido, (where her home is, for the training camp by the JAAF) until having this competition come around. Since Tottori ( where she set her record of 11.16w in the 100m), I have maintained my condition well enough. Tomorrow is tomorrow, and I don't know what will happen. But I think I will be fine because I have been in a condition like this for these two weeks. This is an international competition right before the World Championships, so I want to simulate my race for the Worlds. Inthe final, I will go not only for winning the championship but also for setting a good record.

Women Heptathlon Wassana Winatho2011.07.09 20:35
Since I am now 31 years old and have been training for 18 years, I am very happy (to win the championship). Today's condition was very good. I will compete in the 400mH and the relay in the World Championships, and I want to qualify for the both finals. I have no plan for the Heptathlon (in the Worlds.) (The reason of having a tattoo of a Japanese letter on her arm is that) I have it as a prayer for good luck. It is my good luck charm

Men High Jump Mutaz Essa Barshim2011.07.09 20:30
Thanks to tremendous support from my coach who has much experience, the Qatar Association of Athletics Federation, and the Qatari government, I am being able to improve my records. My goal is the range of 2m40 to 45, and perhaps even the world record height of 2m46 if possible. In the World Championships, I really want to win the gold medal. I will rewrite the history (for no Asian has ever won the high jump event in the Worlds. The best Asian was Zhu who won bronze in 1983). My coach tells me nothing is impossible.

Women Pole Vault Sha Wu2011.07.09 19:45
I had a good weather and good condition today. I learned a lot from watching how smoothly the Korean vaulter maneuvered her body. And I received loud cheers from Japanese fans in the stand, and it helped me to win the Championship today. Since arriving in Japan, I have been in a good shape all the time. My energy was great even under such a hot weather, which was very nice. My goals from this point on are finishing top 8 in the World Championships, gain selection for the Olympic team, and clearing the A standard. I haven't fully recovered from the injury, so I need to take care of it as well as improve my basic physical fitness and techniques.

Women Triple Jump Final Limei Xie2011.07.09 19:20
My condition has been good since practices, so I was expecting this record. The stadium was good, too. I have won Asian Championship in 2005 and the Asian Games in 2006. Finishing in top 8 place in the World Championships is my next goal. I have many areas to improve including speed, power and technique.

Men Shot Put Final 1st Ming-Huang CHANG2011.07.09 18:55
I have several 2nd and 3rd places before (two consecutive silver in Asian Championships and two consecutive bronze in Asian Games) , so I am very happy to win the gold medal. It's difficult to throw over 20m by the 3rd attempt, but today I could accomplish that. From now on, I will try to improve mental aspect of the sports and gain further experiences. I have received coaching in the United States from Coach Don Babbit, who has rich experience, and it led to the good result today.
